Pause & Reflect
Jesus' invitation is wonderfully simple: “Come after me.” But simple does not mean insignificant. The disciples left familiar patterns to follow Him. Christianity therefore isn't merely believing certain things about Jesus while continuing to live entirely on our own terms. Jesus calls disciples. A disciple learns from the Master, adopts His ways and follows where He leads. Sometimes following Jesus will confirm choices you already wanted to make. Other times His teaching will challenge your preferences, ambitions or assumptions. That is where discipleship becomes real. We cannot say, “Jesus, I will follow You wherever You lead—as long as You lead where I have already decided to go.” Following requires surrender. And it happens one step at a time. You don't need to know everything Jesus will ask of you over the next twenty years. You need to answer His invitation today.
Declare It Today
“Jesus is my Lord, and I choose to follow Him. I will learn His ways, obey His Word and surrender the right to define discipleship entirely on my own terms.”
Let's Pray
Jesus, thank You for calling me to follow You. Give me courage to release anything that prevents wholehearted discipleship. Teach me Your ways and help me say yes to the obedience You are asking of me today. Amen.
