Pause & Reflect
Jesus said: “If you love me, keep my commandments.” We often define love primarily through feelings. Jesus connects love with obedience. That does not mean we earn His love by obeying. The gospel has already established grace. Instead, obedience becomes a response to the One we love. This matters when obedience conflicts with emotion. You may not feel like forgiving. Telling the truth. Waiting sexually. Giving generously. Controlling your speech. Honouring a commitment. Love asks: “What honours Christ?” Feelings matter, but they are not always reliable leaders. Sometimes obedience comes first and emotions catch up later.
Declare It Today
“I love Jesus, and I want that love to become visible through obedience. I will not make temporary feelings greater than His Word.”
Let's Pray
Jesus, deepen my love for You until obedience becomes increasingly joyful. Where my feelings resist Your commands, give me grace to choose faithfulness. Amen.
