Pause & Reflect
Paul gives us a sobering picture. You can speak impressively. Understand mysteries. Possess remarkable faith. Give generously. Make extraordinary sacrifices. And still miss something essential. Love. Spiritual gifts without love become noise. Knowledge without love can become pride. Sacrifice without love can become performance. This means Christian maturity cannot be measured merely by how gifted someone appears. The deeper question is: Are we becoming more loving? Not merely toward people who are easy to love. Toward difficult people. Toward those who cannot advance our ambitions. Toward people who disagree with us. Toward those who need patience. Love is not the decorative finishing touch on Christianity. Jesus placed it near the centre of discipleship.
Declare It Today
“Love is essential to Christian maturity. I refuse to measure spiritual growth only by knowledge, gifting or achievement. I want the love of Christ to shape everything I do.”
Let's Pray
Father, make me a woman who loves deeply and truthfully. Keep spiritual knowledge, gifts and service from becoming substitutes for love. Let the character of Jesus shape the way I treat people. Amen.
