Come Near to God

Day 16

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

James 4:8

Pause & Reflect

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” What an extraordinary invitation. The God we have spent the previous days learning about—the eternal, holy, powerful and incomparable God—invites us to come near. Yet James places this invitation within a call to repentance and wholehearted devotion. Drawing near to God is more than experiencing a spiritual feeling. It involves turning away from divided loyalties and deliberately orienting our hearts toward Him. Sometimes we wait to feel close to God before seeking Him. Scripture reverses that order: come near. Open His Word when you feel spiritually dry. Pray when your thoughts are scattered. Worship when your emotions haven't caught up. Confess what needs confessing. Intimacy grows through relationship cultivated over time. God is not asking you to impress Him with a perfect spiritual routine. He is inviting you to bring Him your heart. Take the next step toward Him today.

Declare It Today

“I will draw near to God. I will not allow distraction, disappointment or spiritual dryness to keep me distant. I will seek Him with an honest and surrendered heart.”

Let's Pray

Father, thank You for inviting me near. Reveal anything that is dividing my heart and help me turn from it. Create in me a deeper desire for Your presence and teach me to seek You faithfully, whether or not my emotions feel strong. In Jesus' name, amen.
