Pause & Reflect
Jesus said the Holy Spirit would convict the world concerning sin, righteousness and judgment. Conviction is a gift. Without it, we could become comfortable with what is destroying us. But conviction and condemnation are not the same. Condemnation says: “Hide from God. There is no hope for you.” Godly conviction says: “This is sin. Bring it into the light. Turn back to God.” The Holy Spirit does not expose sin because He delights in humiliation. He leads us toward truth and repentance. When conviction comes, resist two opposite responses. Don't excuse the sin. And don't collapse into hopeless shame. Agree with God. Confess. Receive the grace available in Christ. Make whatever practical changes repentance requires. Then continue walking.
Declare It Today
“I welcome the Holy Spirit's conviction. I will neither excuse sin nor remain trapped in condemnation. I will repent and return to the grace of God.”
Let's Pray
Holy Spirit, make my conscience tender to God's truth. Convict me clearly when I sin and lead me quickly to repentance. Keep me from excuses on one side and hopeless shame on the other. Amen.
