Pause & Reflect
It is possible to appear wonderfully spiritual in public while being extremely difficult to live with privately. That is why relationships are such important places of spiritual formation. Love becomes real when somebody irritates you. Patience becomes real when someone is slow. Gentleness becomes real during disagreement. Self-control becomes real when you are angry. Kindness becomes real when you are tired. Fruit is tested in proximity. Ask the people closest to you—not necessarily verbally, but through honest self-examination: Who experiences the most Christlike version of me? Is it strangers? Church members? Colleagues? Or the people who share ordinary life with me? The Spirit wants fruit to grow at home too.
Declare It Today
“I want the Fruit of the Spirit to become visible in my closest relationships, not merely in public settings. Christlike character begins at home.”
Let's Pray
Holy Spirit, expose any difference between my public spirituality and private behaviour. Make love, patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control increasingly visible to those closest to me. Amen.
