Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would teach His disciples and bring His words to their remembrance. This tells us something important about spiritual learning: we need more than information. We need God to help us understand, remember and live what He has revealed. The Spirit's teaching ministry does not make careful Bible study unnecessary. He does not replace Scripture, context, sound teaching or thoughtful study. He works through the truth God has given. You can read a familiar passage for the twentieth time and suddenly recognise an implication you had repeatedly overlooked. A verse you studied months ago may return to mind exactly when you need its truth. But the Spirit teaches us for more than intellectual satisfaction. Truth is meant to become life. So when you open Scripture, don't merely ask: “What can I learn?” Also pray: “Holy Spirit, teach me—and show me how to obey.”
