Pause & Reflect
James tells believers to consider trials an occasion for joy because tested faith produces endurance. He is not telling suffering people to enjoy pain. The joy comes from knowing the trial is not spiritually meaningless. God can produce endurance through what we would never have chosen. There are lessons comfort cannot teach. Patience requires waiting. Endurance requires difficulty. Courage requires something frightening enough to require courage. The goal is not to seek hardship. But when hardship comes, faith can ask: “God, what can You form in me here?” Joy sees beyond the immediate moment. It believes suffering does not have the authority to waste the life surrendered to God.

“My trials do not have to be spiritually wasted. I trust God to produce endurance and maturity in me even through circumstances I would not have chosen.”
Let's Pray
Father, give me grace for the trials I face. Help me grieve honestly while trusting Your ability to form something lasting in me through this season. Amen. PEACE
