God's knowledge of you is astonishingly complete. Psalm 139 describes a God who knows when you sit and when you rise, who understands your thoughts and is acquainted with your ways. There is no carefully edited version of yourself that you need to present to Him. He knows your strengths and weaknesses. He knows your faithful moments and your failures. He knows what excites you and what frightens you. He knows what you understand about yourself—and what you have not yet recognised. Being completely known can sound frightening when we are accustomed to hiding parts of ourselves from others. Yet David responds to God's knowledge with wonder. You don't need to perform for the One who already knows you. Instead, you can become increasingly honest before Him. Prayer can become less about finding impressive words and more about bringing your real heart to God. Repentance can become honest. Questions can become honest. Worship can become honest. You are already fully known. Let that truth draw you toward God rather than away from Him.
