Pause & Reflect
When Moses asked God His name, God answered: “I AM WHO I AM.” God does not derive His existence, authority or identity from anything outside Himself. Everything we know changes. Seasons change. Circumstances change. Relationships change. Our bodies change. Opportunities open and close. Even the plans we confidently make can change overnight. God does not. Before your present situation existed, God was God. Long after this season passes, He will still be God. That truth brings stability. Your security ultimately cannot rest in circumstances remaining predictable. It rests in the One whose character does not shift with them. Moses was being called into something far beyond his own ability. God's answer was not primarily to convince Moses that Moses was capable. God revealed who God was. That remains one of the great answers to our insecurity. The foundation of courage is not always, “I can do this.” Sometimes it is simply: “God is.”
Declare It Today
“God is eternal, self-existent and unchanging. My confidence is not ultimately in my own ability but in who He is. Whatever changes around me, I will anchor my heart in the eternal God.”
Let's Pray
Eternal God, teach me to build my confidence upon You rather than circumstances I cannot control. When I feel inadequate or uncertain, remind me that You are sufficient. Help me trust who You are even when I cannot see what comes next. Amen.
