Moved With Compassion

Day 42

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

Matthew 9:35–38

Pause & Reflect

Jesus saw the crowds and was moved with compassion. He did not merely see a mass of people. He saw people who were harassed and helpless. Compassion begins with seeing. Our lives can become so focused on our own responsibilities that people turn into interruptions, statistics or problems. Jesus teaches us to look differently. Compassion doesn't mean saying yes to every request. Jesus Himself withdrew, rested and did not meet every demand placed upon Him. Healthy boundaries and compassion can coexist. But boundaries must not become an excuse for indifference. Ask God to help you notice. The colleague carrying something quietly. The woman sitting alone. The struggling parent. The elderly neighbour. The person whose behaviour may be masking pain. Sometimes compassion will require practical help. Sometimes prayer. Sometimes listening. Sometimes speaking truth. But first, we must see.

Declare It Today

“I want the compassion of Jesus to shape the way I see people. I will not allow busyness or self-focus to make me indifferent to the needs God places before me.”

Let's Pray

Jesus, give me Your compassion. Open my eyes to people I easily overlook. Give me wisdom to know when to help, when to listen, when to speak and when to pray. Let Your love become visible through my life. Amen.
