Pray and Do Not Give Up

Day 107

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

Luke 18:1–8

Read Scripture in Context →

Pause & Reflect

Luke tells us exactly why Jesus gave the parable of the persistent widow: His disciples “ought always to pray, and not to faint.” Some prayers are answered quickly. Others become companions for years. The child you continue praying for. The family situation that has not changed. The direction you still need. The person who does not yet know Christ. The breakthrough that has not arrived. Waiting can make us wonder whether continued prayer matters. Jesus tells us not to give up. But persistence is not manipulation. We are not wearing down a reluctant God. Jesus contrasts God with the unjust judge rather than comparing Him to one. If even an unjust judge eventually responds, how much more can God's people trust their righteous Father? Keep praying. And while you pray, allow God to work in you as well as in the situation.

Declare It Today

“I will not abandon prayer simply because the answer has taken longer than I hoped. I will persist while trusting God's justice, wisdom and timing.”

Let's Pray

Father, strengthen me in the prayers I have carried for a long time. Keep disappointment from turning into unbelief. Help me persevere while surrendering the outcome to You. Amen.
