Put Off the Old, Put On the New

Day 124

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

Ephesians 4:20–24

Pause & Reflect

Paul describes transformation using the language of changing clothes: put off the old person and put on the new person. That means Christian growth has both a negative and positive dimension. We don't merely stop lying. We learn to speak truth. We don't merely stop stealing. We learn honest work and generosity. We don't merely stop destructive speech. We learn words that build others up. Biblical change asks two questions: What needs to come off? and What needs to replace it? If you remove an old habit without developing a new pattern, the empty space often draws you back. God's goal is not merely less visible sin. It is new character.

Declare It Today

“I will put off patterns belonging to my old way of life and actively put on the character and practices of my new life in Christ.”

Let's Pray

Father, show me what needs to come off and what needs to replace it. Give me wisdom to make practical changes and grace to practise new patterns until they increasingly reflect Christ. Amen.
