Repentance That Leads to Life

Feeling bad about sin is not necessarily repentance. Paul distinguishes godly sorrow from worldly sorrow. We can regret consequences without regretting the sin itself. We can feel embarrassed because someone discovered what we were doing. We can dislike how our choices affected our reputation. Biblical repentance goes deeper. It agrees with God about sin and turns toward Him. Repentance may require confession. An apology. Restitution. Removing access. Changing routines. Seeking accountability. Ending a pattern. Grace does not eliminate repentance. Grace makes repentance possible because we no longer need to hide. In Christ, confession is not walking toward rejection. It is walking back into the light.
