There Is None Like You

God declares through Isaiah: “I am God, and there is none like me.” We sometimes reduce God in our imagination until He becomes only slightly greater than ourselves—someone who sees a little more, knows a little more and can accomplish a little more. Scripture presents something entirely different. God is incomparable. He sees history beyond the small section visible to us. His purposes are not threatened by unexpected events. He is never surprised by tomorrow. This doesn't mean we will understand everything God permits or every way He works. His sovereignty does not eliminate mystery. But it means history is not ultimately directionless. When your plans change, when the future looks uncertain or when you cannot understand what God is doing, you can remember that your limited perspective is not His limitation. You don't have to understand everything in order to trust the One who does.
