Whatever Is True

Day 137

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

Philippians 4:8

Pause & Reflect

Paul tells believers to deliberately think about what is true, honourable, just, pure, lovely and worthy of praise. This is not shallow positive thinking. It is disciplined attention. Your mind is constantly being offered material to dwell on: Fear. Comparison. Imagined conversations. Resentment. Worst-case scenarios. Temptation. Other people’s opinions. Paul teaches us that spiritual maturity includes learning where to let the mind remain. A thought can enter your mind without receiving permanent residence there. Ask: Is this true? Is this useful? Does dwelling on this lead me toward Christlike thinking? Sometimes the mind needs redirection. Again. And again. That repeated redirection is not failure. It is training.

Declare It Today

“I will train my mind to dwell upon what is true, honourable, pure and consistent with God’s Word. I refuse to give every anxious or destructive thought unlimited attention.”

Let's Pray

Holy Spirit, govern my thought life. Help me recognise unhealthy mental patterns and redirect my attention toward truth, gratitude and what honours Christ. Amen. Replacement 2 — Canonical Day 140 Old: Clothed With Humility — Philippians 2 Issue: Too close to Day 132.
