Pause & Reflect
Paul tells believers: “Don't grieve the Holy Spirit of God.” The surrounding verses are strikingly practical. Corrupt speech. Bitterness. Wrath. Anger. Malice. Then kindness, tenderheartedness and forgiveness. Sometimes we search for highly mysterious explanations for spiritual dryness while ignoring very ordinary disobedience. How we speak to people matters to God. How long we nurse resentment matters. How we treat people who disappoint us matters. Because the Holy Spirit is personal, sin is not merely breaking an abstract rule. It grieves the God who dwells within His people. The appropriate response is not shame-driven hiding. It is repentance. Ask: Is there something in my conduct that I know does not please God? Then deal with it honestly.
Declare It Today
“The Holy Spirit's presence matters to me. I will not knowingly protect attitudes, words or behaviours that grieve Him. When convicted, I will repent.”
Let's Pray
Holy Spirit, search my heart. Reveal bitterness, destructive speech, unforgiveness or anything else that grieves You. Give me grace to repent and increasingly reflect the kindness and forgiveness of Christ. Amen.
