Greater Love Has No One

Day 53

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

John 15:12–13

Pause & Reflect

Jesus defines love through sacrifice: “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” Soon He would demonstrate exactly what He meant. Biblical love is therefore more substantial than affection. It seeks another person’s good. Sometimes love costs convenience. Time. Comfort. Pride. Resources. Forgiveness. But sacrificial love should not be confused with allowing people to exploit, control or harm you without wisdom or boundaries. Jesus willingly gave Himself according to the Father’s purpose. He was not powerless or manipulated into the cross. Christian love is self-giving, but it is also shaped by truth and wisdom. Ask not only: “Do I feel love?” Ask: “What would it mean to seek this person’s genuine good?”

Declare It Today

“Jesus has shown me sacrificial love. I will learn to love others through truth, wisdom, compassion and a willingness to put their genuine good ahead of selfishness.”

Let's Pray

Jesus, thank You for loving me sacrificially. Teach me to love beyond words and feelings. Give me wisdom so that my love is both gracious and truthful, generous and healthy. Amen.
