Walk by the Spirit

Paul does not tell believers merely to suppress every sinful desire through determination. He says: “Walk by the Spirit.” The Christian life involves a real conflict. Old desires do not always disappear immediately because we belong to Christ. There remains a battle between the flesh and the Spirit. That battle does not mean your faith is fake. It means you need daily dependence. Walking describes continual movement. One decision. Then another. One response. One conversation. One temptation. One act of obedience at a time. Victory is often less dramatic than we imagine. It may look like closing the browser. Refusing the gossip. Controlling the angry response. Choosing honesty. Leaving the unhealthy situation. Asking forgiveness. Walking away from what repeatedly draws you into sin. And in each moment: “Holy Spirit, help me choose what honours Christ.”
